Fun Fest: Drag Story Hour

  • Corlears Hook Park 479 Cherry Street New York United States (map)

Join us for an afternoon of lawn games, arts & crafts and more. Bring a blanket and family picnic and enjoy Drag Story Hour (DSH).

Our reader for this event will be Professor Lionel Longlegs. Learn more about Drag Story Hour at www.dshnyc.org.

DSH is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children. DSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In these spaces, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real.

Books read during Drag Story Hour are appropriate for for kids ages 3-8 years old. After story hour we will have some crafts and games available. Lawn games include sack races, jenga, badminton, cornhole and more.

This event is made possible by NYC Council Member Carlina Rivera.
