"Family Fun Day" is an event that Friends of Corlears Hook Park has put on annually since our founding two years ago and is quickly becoming a neighborhood tradition. This event doesn't require any "work" to be done, but rather invites the community into the park to enjoy various activities and learn about local community programming. People are invited to bring a picnic to the park and enjoy an array of fun entertainment, activities, giveaways, and information provided by various partner organizations.
The highlight of this year's event will be a 30-minute performance* by the Taylor Teen Ensemble from the Paul Taylor School.
Other participating groups and activities include:
The Tenement Museum invites you explore objects and homes from the past, and participate in their new online exhibit, Your Story, Our Story. Help us tell the story of America’s immigration and migration by contributing your family’s story. Bring a family object (nothing valuable, please) to photograph for the exhibit, and come ready to share a story!
The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) will provide arts and crafts activities related to their Dragon Boat Festival.
Bubble science activities will be presented by Girl Scout Senior Troop 3015 and Cadette Troop 3016.
University Settlement will provide arts and crafts, face painting, and information about their programs.
The NYC Parks Play Mobile will be on-site and stocked with games and toys suitable for children. They will also be doing face painting.
Arts and Crafts activities and free giveaways provided by Materials for the Arts.
The NYPD 7th Precinct Community Affairs office will have a patrol car in the park for the kids to explore as well as a 30-foot rock wall to climb.
